Walking Holiday South France. St Guilhem  Walking Holiday South France. Dolmen

Our self-guided walks have proven extremely popular since we began welcoming visitors in 2005, so now we also offer the possibility of a four day hike on the St Jacques de Compostelle route, a trail which cuts right across our region.  Your walking holiday in the South of France could successfully combine this option with both drop-off and circular based walks.

In common with all our other offered activities, visitors are free to do as much or as little of the walk, as and when they please. Below we outline the full four day itinerary, which covers approximately 90 kms in total.  By arrangement we will both drop and collect, to all the staging posts listed below.

Day One: St Guilhem * to St-Jean de la Blaquière

Enjoy the World Heritage site that is St Guilhem-le-Desert, then hike through the Cirque de l’Infernet, down through Arboras and on into the wine producing village of St Jean where you will be collected.

Day Two: St Jean de la Blaquière to Lodève

You will pass Usclas-du-Bosc, an ancient Dolmen, the Grandmont Priory, and Soumont with its twelfth century church, before descending into Lodève and making your own way back to Ballade des Pins.

Day Three: Lodève to Col de la Baraque de Brai

You will leave on foot, continuing on the GR653 as it meanders through wild and unspoilt landscape.  The Col de la Baraque (609 metres) is the collection point today.

Day Four: Col de la Baraque to Lunas*

Dropped off at the Col you will then make your way on foot passing Joncels, a well preserved hamlet with ramparts from the twelfth century, before descending into Lunas - a picturesque village with restaurants and cafes, on the banks of the river Gravezon.  You will be collected from here.

Lifts/Collections are offered at the same rate as for our other drop offs (8 euros per person) though for this option we do charge a single person supplement of 5 euros for all the points marked with an * above.

As an example, for two people having this as a full four day walking holiday in France, the costs would be as follows:

Day One 32 euros (drop offs and collections), Day Two 16 euros, Day Three 16 euros, Day Four 32 euros.  Total 96 euros or 48 euros per person.  You can of course do any or all of the days walks outlined above.

We will offer a discounted rate for groups of three to four.

We can accommodate groups of more than four but will need to hire the appropriate transport, and in that event, some of those costs will be passed on.
